Nokia Publishes Case Study on Pocket Life for OVI developers

From several hundred applications and services submitted in the Apps on Maps competition of Forum Nokia’s 2009 Calling All Innovators contest, Pocket Life was the second prize winner. The creator of the application, Pocketweb, Ltd., is the first New Zealand and Australia-based developer to be so honoured.

Innovator strikes Gold

Tony Culshaw, a reluctant computer geek who fell in love with the Central Otago lifestyle, has struck gold with a Wanaka technology company.

Mr Culshaw is the principal architect of Wanaka company Pocketweb's award-winning Nokia cellphone application, Pocket Life, which allows cellphone users to share their present location and other places they really like with friends and family, via GPS and mapping services.

Pocket Life network application for bushfire warning proposed

VICTORIANS will be able to warn each other of bushfire threats with a new mobile phone system that pinpoints their exact location.

The Australian developers of Pocket Life say that if the mobile social networking system had been used on Black Saturday victims might have received an early warning of the approaching firestorms.
